Exhibition features the 'accidental'
isitors to the Gallery at the Art and Music Library will have the opportunity to view the randomly composed collage creations of artist Robert Raczka in the exhibition inside/outside that continues through February 10.
Raczka, a fine art photographer, explores his fascination with architecture and ornamentation in an exhibition he created wearing a blindfold. The combination of collage and photography is designed to create a composition and beauty that is largely accidental, Raczka says. "My exploration of concepts and aesthetics of ornamentation is a springboard to creating works of beauty while emphasizing the artificiality and strangeness of culture," he adds. During the past 20 years, Raczka has taught photography and art at the University of Texas at Arlington, California State University at Long Beach, and since 1989 at Allegheny College in Meadville, Pa., where he is associate professor of art and gallery director. His works in photography and digital photography have been exhibited in solo and group shows around the country. The gallery is located on the ground floor of Rush Rhees Library. Admission is free. For hours, call x5-9249.
