In BriefApril 24: Bring kids to workThe annual Take Your Children To Work Day will be held on Thursday, April 24, from 8 a.m. to noon. Sponsored by the Medical Center Administrative Group, the event is an opportunity for children between the ages of 9 and 15 to join parents at work and learn about career opportunities available at the University. Registration, limited to 200 participants, is required by Thursday, April 10. Create a 'safe zone'Faculty and staff are invited to attend training sessions for Safe Zone, a program designed to create a more supportive and inclusive environment on campus for gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender individuals and their allies. Sessions will be held in the Gowen Room of Wilson Commons on Tuesday, April 1, noon to 1 p.m.; Wednesday, April 9, 11 a.m. to noon; and Friday, April 18, 1 to 2 p.m. E-mail Sheila Vakharia at safezone@mail.rochester.edu for more details.
See Michael Moore liveWhile advance tickets for Bowling for Columbine director Michael Moore's talk on March 26 at 9 p.m. are sold out, tickets for the live simulcast in lower Strong Auditorium will be available at the door for $2. The event is sponsored by the Outside Speakers Committee.
Project Believe director to speakAndrea Lennon, director of Project Believe --the University initiative to make Rochester the nation's healthiest city by 2020--will speak at the University Women's Club meeting and luncheon on Friday, April 11, at Shadow Lake Golf Club, 1850 Five Mile Line Rd., Penfield. Registration and the talk begin at 10:45 a.m. followed by a luncheon at 12:30 p.m. The cost is $12.50 per person. Call 473-1178 by April 4 to reserve a seat.
Relax!The Medical Center Athletic Club offers therapeutic massage, reflexology, and polarity treatments for those seeking relief from tension and stress. Session start at $15 and are open to University faculty, staff, and students. Call x5-2437 to schedule an appointment.
HR gives service awardsStaff members who have worked for the University for 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, and 45 years by June 30 have been sent a gift selection card and brochure. Any staff members who are eligible and have not received a card should contact Doris Robinson in Human Resources at x3-4644. All cards must be returned by April 4.
Spring 'Vacation Club' offeredThe Family Care Program is sponsoring Vacation Club for children ages 5 to 12. The program, operated by Camp Fire Boys and Girls, is open to University employees and will be held April 14-18 from 6:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. on the River Campus. There is a $100 weekly program fee and $25 weekly registration fee. Call x3-4644 for additional information and registration forms.
