Music, art highlight Polish festival

The Skalny Center for Polish and Central European Studies, along with the Polish Heritage Society of Rochester, is sponsoring a celebration of Polish culture on Sunday, April 6, at the Memorial Art Gallery.

The event kicks off with a concert at 1:30 p.m. in the gallery auditorium that features young people of Polish descent performing a variety of pieces, including works on piano, violin, cello, clarinet, guitar, alto sax, and trumpet. Sabina Slepecki, first violinist with the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra, is the artistic director of the concert, now in its 10th year.

Following the concert, eight young visual artists will exhibit their work at an art show in the gallery's Bausch & Lomb Parlor.

The youth concert and art exhibition, free and open to the public, are part of the Skalny Lecture and Artist Series, a continuing program of performances and special offerings for the Rochester community. For more information, call x5-9898.
