Writer Oates to speak at art gallery
Born in Lockport, N.Y., Oates has authored more than 70 books including George Bellows: American Artist. A member of the American Academy of Arts and Letters, Oates is the Roger S. Berlind Distinguished Professor of the Humanities at Princeton University. Oates will be joined by four other Bellows scholars: Virginia Mecklenburg, senior curator at the Smithsonian American Art Museum; Mark White, assistant professor of art history at Oklahoma State University; Marjorie Searl, Memorial Art Gallery chief curator; and Ronald Netsky, chair of the art department at Nazareth College.
