Film on deaf women debutsA new film that examines health care issues facing many deaf women will make its debut on Wednesday, June 18, at Strong Memorial Hospital. The one-hour film, which features deaf characters interacting with real physicians, addresses issues such as pregnancy, sexually transmitted diseases, and gynecological exams. Written and produced by PAH, MD--a medical student group dedicated to deaf health care issues--and the Deaf Wellness Center at Strong Memorial Hospital, the film will be shown at 6:30 p.m. in Room 1-9041 at Strong Behavioral Health. A question-and-answer session as well as refreshments will follow, and free copies of the video will be available for local agencies. Deaf women of any age, parents of deaf women, health care providers, educators, and all others involved in issues affecting deaf women are invited to attend. Athletic club offers summer programThe Medical Center Athletic Club is sponsoring a Fun Fitness Camp for children of faculty and staff. The New York State-certified summer camp, which runs from June 23 through August 22 and is open to children ages 7-12, offers participants a noncompetitive, confidence-building experience as well as an opportunity to learn new skills and adapt to group experiences through a variety of supervised activities. Fees are $135/week or $31/day, in addition to a one-time registration fee; discounts are available for multiple children. Call x5-2706 for information or a registration packet.

Get creativeThe Memorial Art Gallery's Creative Workshop is offering more than 80 summer courses for children, teens, and adults. Funky Fabrics, Exploring Ancient Civilizations, and Mastering the Still Life are just a few of the week-long sessions offered in the Art Day School for children ages 7-12. And for adults, there are a wide range of classes at the gallery as well as Artwood, a 100-acre property in the Bristol Hills. The gallery will also feature Summer Smorgasbord lectures for the art-minded beginning July 9, when Jean France presents "The Architecture of the Summer Place."
