MOVE OVER, GEOFFREY--Those driving or strolling past Mt. Hope Family Center are likely to do a double take when they see the bright yellow giraffe standing tall at the center's front entrance. Designed and decorated by Jody Todd Manly '90 (PhD) (right), Elizabeth Flanagan (center), and Dawn Revette '01 (Mas), Pride the Giraffe--whose name stands for prevention, research, intervention, development, and education--is part of Animal Scramble, a community arts program sponsored by ESL Federal Credit Union to raise money for local charities.

Manly, a clinical director who has worked at the Mt. Hope Family Center for 19 years and who volunteered her time to work on Pride, says she got involved to raise awareness of the services the center provides and its connection to the University. "The giraffe, which was beautifully decorated by staff as well as the children and families visiting, provides visibility for the center and is a bright spot for the entire community. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that some generous donor will make Pride a permanent fixture here when she's auctioned off this fall."
