MIND OF A SCHOLAR--Ariel Robinson, an eighth-grader from Pittsford Middle School, holds the German passport of a local resident who escaped from Germany during World War II. Robinson is one of dozens of local middle school students who participated in the Rochester Scholars "jr." program, July 14-18. As part of the class Teen Writers of the Holocaust, the students spent the week reading diaries and journals from the Holocaust and creating a remembrance museum that included actual death camp uniforms on loan from the local Jewish Community Federation. Currents is published every two weeks throughout the year and every three weeks from JuneAugust. The next issue publishes on Monday, August 18. Deadline for submissions is noon, Monday, August 11.
