CHARLOTTE SLEUTHS--Called the Banana Monkeys, this group of Rochester middle school students, led by Warner School graduate student Becky Goodman, took water samples at Charlotte Beach during the Get Real! Environmental Action Camp on August 4. Their goal was to examine changes in levels of dissolved oxygen and pH and to brainstorm ways to combat beach pollution and algae buildup based on their findings. "This problem is important because I live in the Charlotte community, and I want to swim in the lake without being covered in seaweed," says group member Olivia Lara. (See related story.)
