September 12, 14, 19, 21, 2 p.m. Through October 5--59th Rochester-Finger Lakes Exhibition. This juried show features 40 works by 31 artists selected from a field of 806 submissions. Through November 2--All Around the Town: Artists' New York City. Primarily works on paper, this exhibition highlights works depicting life in New York City during the 19th and 20th centuries. Included are works by Louis Lozowick, Childe Hassam, Winslow Homer, and John Marin. Through 2003--New Acquisitions for a New Millennium. Showcases 21 masterworks acquired during the last four years, including the Inner Coffin of Pa-debehu-Aset, an Egyptian official of the fourth century B.C.E. At Rush Rhees Library Through September 29--Between Adulthood and Childhood: Recent Paintings by Anna Killian. Small-scale oil paintings by adjunct professor at the University of Montevallo in Alabama describe intimate situations. Gallery at the Art and Music Library, Room G-134. Free and open to the public. Through September 30--Writings of Consequence: The Art of John A. Williams. This exhibition displays prime documents from John Williams, author of The Man Who Cried I Am, including correspondence, manuscript notes and drafts, memorabilia, and photographs.
