Events honor MLK Day
A number of events across the campuses will celebrate the life and legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. on Monday, January 19. Included below are a few events planned. To view a more complete list, visit www.rochester.edu/news/MLK_events.html.
River Campus
- Peace rally and walk, 4:30 p.m., front steps of Wilson Commons to the Interfaith Chapel. Service, 5 p.m.; a "Dinner and Dialogue" will follow the service.
- Videos of King and images from the Civil Rights movement will be screened at various locations across the River Campus.
Eastman School of Music
- Eastman Dean of Students Phyllis Wade will discuss "Signal Songs of the Underground Railroad" at noon in Kilbourn Hall.
Medical Center
- Samuel Roberts, assistant professor of history and of sociomedical sciences at Columbia University, will give separate presentations at 1 p.m. and at 3 p.m.
