Guess 'when will it end'

University Facilities and Services is sponsoring a second annual winter weather contest for members of the University community. To enter the "When Will It End" contest, participants must guess the date Rochester will receive the last measurable snowfall of the season. Participants can register online at www.facilities.rochester.edu/snow/whenwillitend.htm or send an entry to Dan Schied, Horticulture and Grounds, 612 Wilson Boulevard, P.O. Box 270485 or to Sue Willis-Miller, Facilities Customer Service, P.O. Box 278918. The winner will be announced on June 1.

Feeling creative?

Faculty, staff, and students are invited to submit a creative entry in any medium that addresses issues of human values in health care. Works will be judged on focus, clarity of expression, originality, presentation skill, and overall quality. The winning entries will receive a $200 prize and an inscribed plaque. The deadline for submissions is 5 p.m. Friday, April 30.

The Staff Award for Creative Excellence is open to all University staff members. The Faculty Award for Creative Excellence is open to University faculty members, including residents, fellows, instructors, and clinical and academic faculty. The Student Award for Creative Excellence is open to both graduate and undergraduate students.

February Fun Camp returns

The Medical Center Fitness and Wellness Center is offering a Fitness Fun Camp February 16 to 20 for children ages 7 to 12. The New York-certified camp offers children an opportunity to learn new skills and take part in a variety of sports such as ice skating and swimming. Open to families from the University community, the camp runs from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. The fee is $135 a week or $32 a day, with a registration fee of $5 and a 10 percent discount for multiple children. The camp offers a noncompetitive, confidence-building experience for children and is supervised by three experienced counselors. Space is limited. Nominate a student leader

The Office of the Dean of Students invites deans, department chairs, and directors to submit nominations for this year's University Citizenship/Community Leadership Student Awards. Recipients will be announced in April and honored at a reception in the spring.

Program targets teen scholars

Registration is open for Rochester Scholars, a precollege academic program for middle and high school students sponsored by the Office of Special Programs and Part-time Studies. Sessions will be held February 16-20 and April 12-16. Tuition discounts are available for children and grandchildren of faculty, staff, and alumni. First aid course offered

An American Heart Association first aid course will be held on Wednesday, April 7, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the School of Medicine and Dentistry, LeChase Room (G-9576). The cost is $60 and includes materials. The registration deadline is March 31. To register, contact the Office for Educational Resources at x5-7666.
