Learn more about the fast ferry

The University will host a panel discussion on the new fast ferry between Rochester and Toronto on Wednesday, April 28, at 7 p.m. in The Meliora. Panelists Mayor William Johnson, Democrat and Chronicle reporter Jim Memmott, former New York State Senator Richard Dollinger, and Canadian American Transportation Systems Chairman Dominick DeLucia will discuss what the ferry means to western New York. Curt Smith, senior lecturer at the University, will moderate.

Admission is $5 per person, and free parking is available in the Library Lot. Dessert and coffee will be served before the program.

Gallery offers classes for all

From "Clay Play" to "Technical Illustration," there's something for everyone at the Memorial Art Gallery's Creative Workshop. Teens and adults, school-age children, and preschoolers can choose from nearly 100 studio courses.

The Workshop's nine-week spring session begins March 29 for children and April 3 for adults. In addition, the workshop is offering two five-week art history courses that meet Wednesday mornings or Thursday evenings, a Spring Break Art Week April 12 to 16, and Art Day School throughout the summer.

For a free brochure or Art Day School registration pack, call 473-7720, ext. 3056, or visit http://mag.rochester.edu/learn/creativeWorkshop.

Dining Services wants to know

University Dining Services invites faculty, staff, and students to complete an online survey. The questions are designed to provide a better picture of how food fits into campus routines, how on-campus dining locations are meeting needs, and how campus dining services can be improved. The survey takes about 10 minutes to complete. Every person who completes the survey may choose to enter to win an American Airlines travel certificate good for one round-trip ticket anywhere in the continental United States. There will be one winner selected on campus, and the winner will be notified by e-mail.

To participate in the River Campus survey, visit www.emillwill.com/campus/rochester. html; for the Eastman School of Music survey, visit www.emillwill.com/campus/eastman.html.

Ushers needed

The Commencement Committee is looking for staff and students to participate as ushers in the College Commencement ceremony on May 16. Ushers assist with final preparations, greet family and friends, distribute ceremony programs, assist guests to special seating areas, provide directions, and answer questions. To sign up or for additional information, contact Scott Verrenti at x3-1765 or at scott.verrenti@rochester.edu.
