Memorial Art Gallery

Gallery Highlights Tour--Free with admission. Meet at the admission desk. June 17, 24, July 1, 6:30 p.m.; June 18, 20, 25, 27, 2 p.m.

Through 2004--Protected for Eternity: The Coffins of Pa-debehu-Aset. Showcases the lavishly decorated inner coffin of an Egyptian official of the fourth century B.C.E. and other ancient artifacts.

June 18 through August 29--Pompelmous, Surinam and Centaurea Cyanus: Botanical Prints from the Collection of Jacquelyn and William Pinch. This exhibition showcases 17th- and 18th-century engravings from some of the most famous botanists in Germany, England, and Holland. The 40 works include prints from early issues of The Botanical Magazine, which began publishing in 1787. The exhibition is one of a number of floral-themed events which celebrate the sister-city alliance between Rochester and Hamamatsu, Japan.

River Campus

Through June 17--Seamingly. Features a series of color photographs and fabric sculptures by Rachel Siegel, inspired by one pink 1960s party dress. The Gallery at the Art & Music Library, Rush Rhees Library.

Through September 15--Friendship in Bloom: Four Centuries of Floral Images to Celebrate the Iris Friendship Garden in Highland Park. Showcases irises in books and prints from the Ellwanger and Barry Nursery Library and other collections. Rare Books and Special Collections, Rush Rhees Library, second floor.

Medical Center

Through June 30--Photographs of the Residents: A Portrait of Monroe Community Hospital. A series of color images by John Retallack that shows the irrepressible human spirit. MCH is home to over 500 long-term care and rehabilitation patients. Edward G. Miner Library.

HEALTH AND WELLNESS

CPR Classes--Classes are offered by the Office for Educational Resources (OER) from January through June. Registration required. All classes held in the OER Department (2-7500 area of the Medical Center). To register, call x5-7666.

June 14--Basic Life Support Refresher Course, 5 to 9 p.m.

June 17, 24, July 1--Traditional Hatha Yoga. Free to members of the center or $5 per class for nonmembers; walk-ins welcome. Medical Center, G-5680, 11:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.

June 28 through August 27--Fun Fitness Camp. This nine-week children's camp offers a variety of activities including sports, swimming, and field trips in a fun, noncompetitive, confidence building environment. For ages 7 to 12. Through July--Childbirth Classes. Classes focus on the process of labor, birth, and postpartum; breathing and relaxation techniques; the hospital stay; special situations such as Cesarean birth; and a tour of the Family Maternity Center. June 15, 19, 22, 26, 29, July 3--Exercising for Childbirth. A nonaerobic exercise class that helps stretch and tone the muscles used in labor and birth. Fee required. Registration and health care provider permission required. June 15, 22, 29: 7:15 to 8:15 p.m.; June 19, 26, July 3: 9 to 10 a.m.

June 16--Breastfeeding. Basics of breastfeeding taught by certified lactation consultants. Fee: $35/mom and support person. Registration required. 9 a.m. to noon.

June 19--Infant Care and Safety: Class Three--Baby's First Year. Explores infant care after the newborn period through the first birthday. Fee: $50/couple for three-week mini-series. Registration required. 1 to 3 p.m.

June 19, July 1--Big Brothers- and Sisters-to-Be Class. The "ins and outs" of being a big brother or sister are covered in this class for expectant siblings and their parents. Fee: $15/parent/guardian(s) and child, $5 each additional child. Registration required. June 19, 10 to 10:45 a.m., 11 a.m. to noon; July 1, 6:30 to 7:15 p.m., 7:30 to 8:30 p.m.

June 26--Infant and Child CPR. Training for parents, grandparents, and child care providers taught by certified American Red Cross instructors. Fee: $40/person. Registration required. 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
