New HR system goes live July 6

In a few weeks, Human Resources will launch the new HRMS system, which will allow faculty and staff to access personal and payroll information, as well as search and apply for jobs online. All employees will log onto the system using their NetIDs. (To register for one, visit www. rochester.edu/netid or stop at the ITS Center on the ground floor of Rush Rhees Library.)

The system is based on the most up-to-date version of PeopleSoft human resource management software. The upgrade is long overdue, HRMS manager Tim Eldred says, largely because the existing system can no longer be kept current, nor is it supported by the software manufacturer.

All employees are encouraged to attend one of the general training sessions that continue through June to learn how to navigate the system. Training sessions for supervisors and for those submitting time and labor information are scheduled throughout June, July, and August. For a complete schedule of sessions, visit the HRMS Web site at www.rochester.edu/hrms. For those who cannot attend a session, an online tutorial is available on the site, as well as a list of frequently asked questions and weekly updates on the upgrade.

Once HRMS goes live, employees and supervisors who have questions or need help will be able to call a hotline--ASK-URHR (x5-8747)--to reach a new service center.

"Realizing that many employees may need assistance with system questions, we are establishing the hotline to provide help," says Chuck Murphy, associate vice president for human resources. "If you are a timekeeper and get stuck while approving time in the first payroll, or if you have questions about your own pay statement, call the hotline."

In addition to checking the regular updates on the Web site, employees can e-mail hr.project@rochester.edu with questions.
