Benefits: Update for faculty and staff
Tuition Benefits for Domestic Partners Effective with the fall 2004 semester, benefits for qualified domestic partners have been expanded to include tuition benefits for courses taken at the University. Domestic partner coverage is available to a person living with the employee as a domestic partner whom the employee cannot legally marry, such as a partner of the same sex. For more information about eligibility, contact the Benefits Office at x5-2087. Enrollment in University Health Care Plans for Married University Employees Effective with the January 1, 2005, open enrollment for health insurance, married employees covering children will be allowed to enroll in either a single/sponsored combination or a single/one-parent combination, rather than one family plan. Under no circumstances would an employee be allowed to be covered under two University Health Care Plans at the same time. Additional information will be included with the open enrollment materials. Auto and Home Insurance MetLife is scheduled to mail a reminder August 25 regarding the group insurance program from MetLife Auto & Home. Eligible faculty and staff can take part in the voluntary benefits program offering property insurance, such as auto, home, renters, condo, and boat. Payment options include payroll or checking account deduction. Retirement Program As was outlined in a July 2004 letter sent to eligible faculty and staff, the University Retirement Program has announced several changes and initiatives, including the updated Retirement Program formula breakpoint, availability of additional investment funds, and the launch of Retirement Program Self-Service. This self-service feature allows faculty and staff to access retirement program contributions, as well as change or newly enroll in allocations, through a new service accessible online at www.rochester.edu/hrms or (800) 410-6497. For more information about the Retirement Program, visit www.rochester.edu/working/benefits/retirement.html.
