Meliora Weekend: Register now!

Carville and Matalin
Carville and Matalin

In the midst of a national presidential race, it's no surprise that tickets to hear commentators James Carville and Mary Matalin are the most sought-after for Meliora Weekend 2004 on October 8 to 10. The political odd couple--she fiercely Republican, he devotedly Democratic--will debate the state of the 2004 George W. Bush-John Kerry presidential race at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 9, in the Alexander Palestra.

A long list of speakers and entertainers are lined up for the annual celebration of homecoming, reunion, and family weekend open to all on campus and in the Rochester community.

Registration is free for University students, faculty, and staff, except for ticketed meals and entertainment. Go online for the required registration at www.rochester.edu/alumni/meliora2004.

Other headliners include humanitarian and medical anthropologist Paul Farmer; award-winning writers Edward Jones and Rita Dove; business leaders and thinkers Anne Mulcahy of Xerox and David Neeleman of JetBlue Airways; economist Larry Kudlow '69; talent agent to TV's stars Richard Leibner '59; comedian Dennis Miller; and many more.

Now in its fourth year and organized by the Office of College Advancement, Meliora Weekend showcases people and pursuits that celebrate the values of an educated life. Alumni, parents, and members of the public also are encouraged to register online for $15 a person.
