Changes made to service awards

The University is making changes to the Service Awards Program, based on requests from employees. Beginning in July, honorees are eligible to receive their gift selection during their actual service anniversary month rather than at the end of the program year. The awards program honors employees with a commemorative gift on their 10-year anniversaries and for each additional five years of service.

In addition, staff will have the option of ordering gifts online as well as via phone or mail.

Supervisors will receive notification and gift selection materials to distribute to employees about two months prior to the milestone anniversary month. After the employee makes a selection, gifts will be delivered directly to his or her home, usually within a month. (A letter will be sent with more details about how to place an order.)

The Service Awards reception for all honorees and the dinner for employees celebrating 25 or more years of service will continue to be held once a year in June for employees whose service dates are from July 1 through June 30 of the current program year.

Until the new changes take effect, staff celebrating milestone anniversaries between July 1, 2004, and June 30, 2005, will be sent a notification of gift choices in April, and gifts are scheduled to deliver by June.
