JAMMIN'--Local musician and steel drummer David Myers played reggae favorites at the second annual "Island Getaway" in Wilson Commons, sponsored by the Student Activities Office and University Dining Services. The March 9 event offered lunch goers a sampling of Carribean foods, including Barbados style chicken, beans and soffrito rice, beetroot salad, and banana rum tart. Staff from the Students Activities Office were on hand to pass out leis and fruit smoothies to "islanders."

"We're really pleased with the turnout again this year," says Melissia Schmidt, assistant director of programs for student activities. "Our goal is to create an environment where all members of the University community can relax and spend time together, and I think this year's event has been a big success."

WELCOME BACK, SPRING BREAKERS

Although it's not warm and tropical in Rochester yet, April is usually a "hot" time at the University for readings, concerts, lectures, films, and exhibits. Look for a list of upcoming events and other news in the next issue of Currents on March 28. Send submissions by noon, Monday, March 21.
