MODERN LANGUAGES & CULTURES WEEK--Laura Tobias '05, left, who studies anthropology, African-American studies, and Spanish, and Elizabeth Boerman '05, who studies history and German with an emphasis on writings and literature by women, participated in a roundtable discussion on April 5 as part of Modern Languages and Cultures Week, a series of events from April 4 to 8 that focused on interdisciplinary programs offered through the department.
According to Susan Gustafson, professor of German and comparative literature who led the roundtable, "the students shared how they have combined various interdisciplinary pursuits in unique ways that allow them to create their own courses of study. . . and to explore the subjects, problems, and intellectually stimulating questions that are essential to them, in ways that are only possible across disciplinary lines."
