Simon School rises to U.S News top 25
"The Simon School has long been regarded as one of the finest business schools in the world, particularly on account of its small size that allows us to offer an integrated and highly personalized approach to management research and education; analytic, economics-based scholarship and teaching; and a leading academic faculty. Thus, it is indeed gratifying that Simon is ranked among the premier business schools in the nation by U.S. News & World Report," says Dean Mark Zupan. "This ranking, and others of recent note, further confirms our strategic plan to build upon our top-tier level of excellence." The school attributes the favorable ranking to several areas of marked improvement. In career management and job placement, the average starting salary and bonus jumped to just more than $86,000, compared to $77,844 in last year's survey, bringing Simon up from 31st to 20th in that category. The number of graduates employed at graduation jumped to 66.5 percent over 55.8 percent last year, placing Simon 23rd up from 36th last year. And, those employed three months post-graduation rose to 88.6 percent compared to 83.1 percent last year, moving Simon from 42nd to 25th. Administrators also point to an admissions process that puts more emphasis on assessing prospective students' talents, attitude, and capacity for leadership. The school has focused on increasing average undergraduate G.P.A., average GMAT scores, and finding candidates with the overall traits for future business success. Each fall, U.S. News & World Report surveys business school deans and directors of accredited M.B.A. programs as well as corporate recruiters on academic quality measures and key indicators. In other recent surveys, the Financial Times of London ranked Simon School 18th in the nation, and Business Week listed the school 29th.
