Commencement

Better by Degrees--Where one story ends, another begins. . . . That's especially true for the more than 1,100 graduates from the College who gathered in Eastman Quad on May 15--a day to reflect, rejoice, and, if possible, relax, before going boldly into the future. Carl Schramm, president and CEO of the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation and Eastman Medal recipient, bid graduates goodwill and challenged them to "keep reinventing this world, to make it a better place for yourself and others."

Also addressing graduates were honorary degree recipients Donna Lopiano, executive director of the Women's Sports Foundation; Luigi Lucherini, mayor of the city of Arezzo in Italy; and Robert Wegman, chairman of Wegmans Food Markets, who passed on advice once given to him: "Never worry about yourself, always take care of others. If you do that, you're well on your way."
