OFF AND RUNNING—On his first day in office, President Joel Seligman affirmed his commitment to strengthen the University's ties to the local community at a July 1 press conference in Schlegel Hall. Seligman said he has already begun meeting with local leaders and business partners to identify areas poised for economic growth and development. "I'll be a president who works hard to make this the strongest University I can and the best possible neighbor to a great city and great community."
Seligman also announced he plans to lay the groundwork for the largest capital campaign in the school's history. "The University is going to play in the big leagues in terms of development."
