CAREER MOVE—TIris Jo '07 (left), a chemistry major, talks to Lisa St. John Meditz from YAI/National Institute for People with Disabilities during a career fair held in Wilson Commons on October 12. As part of Fall Career and Internship Day, an event sponsored by the College Career Center, students got the chance to meet with potential employers, discuss internship and full-time positions, and network with recruiters and alumni in fields ranging from communications to space aeronautics.
Mark Presnell, associate director of the
Career Center, says the event attracted 44 companies this year, 10 more than last year. It's an increase Presnell credits to what he sees as an improving job market and to outreach efforts by the center to target employers and recruiters. "They've recognized that the University is the place to come and get quality students after graduation for both technical and nontechnical fields."
