You, too, can run for office

Getting involved in the Students' Association (SA) government allows students to have a voice in campus life and to address concerns raised by the student body. Last year the group allocated more than $740,000 to student organizations, created the Judicial Advisory Council to inform students about the College's judicial process, and met with University administration to discuss issues such as parking and dining.

SA also passed two resolutions supporting campaigns to create a University-wide sustainability policy and to monitor human-rights abuses by companies producing University apparel.

To learn more about student government, plan to attend one of two special orientation dinners on August 28 at 6 and 7 p.m. in Danforth Dining Center. A separate information session will be held in the Gowen Room at 8:30 p.m. for those interested in running for SA Senate, Class Council, and Hall Council.

Students can share concerns and voice opinions during Senate meetings Monday nights in the Gowen Room of Wilson Commons at 9 p.m. For more information, e-mail SA President Matt Goldblatt at sapresident@mail.rochester.edu or Speaker David Ladon at dl004m@mail.rochester.edu.
