Events salute Black History Month

The University is hosting a series of events in February in honor of Black History Month. Among those is a featured talk by filmmaker Spike Lee on Thursday, February 23, in Strong Auditorium. (Lee's talk was rescheduled from February 16.)

Marquis Harrison '07, president of the Black Students' Union, says the theme for this year's programming is taken from the Langston Hughes poem "I, Too, Sing America." "This is important to us because we want students, faculty, and staff to know that black history is American history. The contributions of black Americans have been highly important to the development of this nation and world," says Harrison.
