RETROSPECTIVE--An exhibition opening March 13 in Rush Rhees Library's Department of Rare Books offers a glimpse into the private and public lives of Susan B. Anthony as well as a closer look at her connections to the suffrage movement, to Rochester, and to the University. Items include a photo of her parents, a copy of an 1852 temperance speech, postcards from her 1883 trip to Europe, the New York State Woman Suffrage Party report from 1894, and a Women's Journal account of her death and funeral in March 1906. Above, curator Mary Huth, with conservation technician Leah Hamilton, holds an Italian cameo brooch that Anthony owned. (Read more about the exhibition and events recognizing the centennial anniversary of Anthony's death.)
Currents features the latest news on faculty and staff, and highlights University news and events. We publish every two weeks. The deadline for the next issue is March 20.
