2006–07 tuition rates announced

Undergraduates in the College will see an increase of 6.1 percent in their term bills for tuition, room, and board for the 2006–07 academic year. The Board of Trustees has approved the increase that will allow the University to direct more funds into classroom improvements and faculty salaries while it is controlling costs in energy and health insurance.

Tuition for the College of Arts, Sciences, and Engineering will increase 6.9 percent from $30,540 to $32,650 for the coming year. Combined room and board costs will grow 3.6 percent from $9,838 to $10,192. The total charge for River Campus undergraduates participating in the most popular board plan will be $42,842. The new term bill and the rate of increase places Rochester in line with peer institutions around the country.

The Eastman School of Music will raise its tuition for incoming freshmen 10 percent from $25,740 to $28,320. Eastman sophomores, juniors, and seniors will see a 5 percent increase to $27,030.
