This year's 17th annual summer institute for teachers and others interested in Catholic education will address key issues related to the future of Catholic education, including the integration of Catholic values into the curriculum and the school's role in shaping the church's social mission. Sponsored by the Warner School, the event will be held from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Thursday, July 6, and from 8:45 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. on Friday, July 7, at the Airport Holiday Inn, located at 911 Brooks Ave. in Rochester
A combination of lectures, discussions, and social conversation is designed for teachers, school administrators, youth ministers, church members, and parents, among others. Keynote addresses will be given by Michael Carotta, researcher and author who has worked with young people for nearly 30 years, and Mary Jane Krebbs, associate secretary for education for the Archdiocese of New York. A free skin cancer detection clinic will be held at Strong Memorial Hospital's dermatology outpatient area from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, May 6. Local dermatologists will conduct skin screenings to detect skin cancers, precancerous conditions, and related problems.
The clinic is sponsored by the American Academy of Dermatology, Rochester Dermatologic Society, and the Department of Dermatology at the Medical Center. Local dermatologists volunteer their time for this event. Each screening takes about five minutes to conduct and a written report of findings will be given to each participant.

Neo, a student ensemble from the Eastman School that focuses on community outreach, will present a pair of free concerts in a program titled "Music from the Time of War." The performances on Saturday, May 6, at 2:30 p.m. in the Reformation Lutheran Church, 111 North Chestnut St. and Sunday, May 7, at 2:30 p.m. at the Dazzle Theater of the Dazzle School of Visual & Performing Arts, 112 Webster Ave. examine how composers Ludwig van Beethoven, Franz Joseph Haydn, and Igor Stravinsky expressed the effects of war through their work. Accompanying the music will be images projected on a screen behind the orchestra. Special guest James VanDemark, an Eastman School professor of double bass, will join the ensemble as narrator. Insomnia--The University Sleep Research Laboratory is looking for volunteers with
primary insomnia, insomnia secondary to major depression, insomnia secondary to chronic pain, insomnia secondary to cancer, and those who are good sleepers. Participants will receive at no cost one or more of the
following: an extensive clinical evaluation, physical examination, laboratory evaluation of health via blood and urine analyses, and in-lab assessment of sleep patterns.
