Learn more about nursing programs

The School of Nursing is holding an open house from 4:30 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, September 21, in the Evarts Lounge in Helen Wood Hall. The event will provide information about the school’s programs, including the accelerated options for non-nurses and two new master’s degree options designed to address an increasing demand for child mental-health practitioners. Simon School launches blog

The Simon School is entering the online “blogosphere” by becoming one of only a select few national business schools to launch an online communications blog.

Located at http://simonschool.typepad.com/communicationsblog/, the blog is intended to be a forum for media as well as current and prospective business school students around the world to discuss business topics in the news and issues in M.B.A. education. The blog is written by Charla Stevens Kucko, director of marketing and communications.

Sustainability roundtable meets

The first Roundtable on Sustainability this fall will be held from noon to 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, September 20, in the Hawkins-Carlson Room in Rush Rhees Library. The roundtable was formed to provide a forum to discuss sustainability issues on campus. All faculty, staff, and students are welcome to attend. The meeting will include a broad discussion of the roles universities can and should play regarding sustainability. Brown-bag lunches are welcome.

Race salutes Anthony

The Susan B. Anthony Legacy Race, which commemorates the suffragist’s fight to win women admission to the University, will be held on Sunday, September 24. The “5K Run/Walk for Women’s Progress” is open to men and women and is sponsored by the Susan B. Anthony Center for Women’s Leadership at the University and the Susan B. Anthony House in Rochester.

The race starts at 10 a.m. at the Susan B. Anthony House at 17 Madison St. and ends near the Interfaith Chapel. Participants can register early or register at 8:45 a.m. on the day of the race at the rear entrance of Rush Rhees Library on Library Road. Buses will transport walkers and runners to the Anthony House for the 10 a.m. start. The event also includes a free on-campus “Fun Run” for children 12 and under at 11 a.m. on the Eastman Quadrangle.
