New wellness programsWell-U, the University’s employee wellness program, is launching a new America On the Move campaign, modeled on the successful initiative conducted last spring. During the last program, more than 45 percent of participants responding to a survey lost weight and 42 percent increased their daily activity level by at least 2,000 steps. With the new campaign, Well-U offers a little extra motivation: All faculty and staff who complete the six-week campaign will receive a free T-shirt. To get started, go to www.rochester.edu/well-u and click on America On the Move. Another program beginning this month is the “Coping with Work and Family Stress” class that will be held for seven Tuesdays from noon to 1 p.m. at the Eastman School. Register online at www.rochester.edu/working/hr/wellness/stress.php or call 475-0432. Lasik discountsStrongVision at the University is offering employees and all of their immediate household members a $200 discount on Lasik surgery through 2007. Those who are planning flexible spending account deductions for 2007 may want to take advantage of the potential savings. All procedures are performed by Scott MacRae, professor of ophthalmology and visual science, who was voted one of the 50 most influential people in refractive surgery by his peers in the American Society for Cataract and Refractive Surgery. Contact StrongVision at x3-2020 or visit www.strongvision.org to schedule a time to attend a free educational seminar or to set up a Lasik evaluation. |
