PIECE PROCESS
![]()
Hartnett Gallery in Wilson Commons is hosting the
fifth and final show of its 30th anniversary exhibition season: Piece Process IV: After Lebanon. The show, on view from March 22 to April 22, features a
collective of professional Jewish and Arab-American artists who are
committed to working together in spite of stagnant political conditions in
the Middle East. The choice of the word “piece” emerged from
the recognition that no art exhibition can force pragmatic solutions upon
the fragile “peace process.”
“Together, the artists will create an artistic
space which offers a multiplicity of voices and shared possibilities,
raising itself beyond hate and ignorance,” says gallery director
Derek Rushton. “Piece
Process also underlines the internal
emotional process that links the artists, pieces them together as a group,
and through the created dynamic strengthens their artistic expression to
become effective and coherent.”
Among the works on view is “The Key”
(above) by Rajie Cook, an internationally known graphic designer,
photographer, and artist who lives in Washington Crossing, Penn. Cook will
join fellow artists Jenny Polack, Granite Amit, Hanah Diab, and John Weber
for a talk on March 22 at 5 p.m. in Havens Lounge of Wilson Commons.
Opening reception follows at 6:30 p.m. in Hartnett Gallery. All events are
free and open to the public.
