Summer fitness camp for kids
The Medical Center Fitness and Wellness Center is offering a Fun Fitness Camp for children ages 7 to 12 from June 25 to August 24. The camp is New York State certified and includes field trips and a variety of sports-related activities. Call x5-2706 for information or to obtain a registration packet. Commencement ushers needed
The Commencement Committee is looking for staff and students to participate as ushers in the College ceremony on May 20. Ushers assist with final preparations, greet families and friends, distribute ceremony programs, assist guests to special seating areas, provide directions, and answer questions.  To sign up or for additional information, contact Scott Verrenti at x3-1765 or scott.verrenti@rochester.edu.
Accent modification services available
Strong Memorial Hospital offers accent modification services to staff, physicians, and international students to help them improve overall speech intelligibility. The program includes an initial interview and a detailed speech analysis that is used to develop a customized set of practice materials. Each one-hour therapy session is taught by speech pathologists who are certified by the American Speech-Language Hearing Association and have been trained through the Institute of Language and Phonology. Construction in Medical Center lots
Construction of a new chiller plant has begun in parking Lots 2 and 3 at the Medical Center. This building will support the utility needs of the new Cancer Center in addition to other University requirements. An area will be fenced off in these lots that will affect about 160 parking spaces. Construction of the chiller plant is expected to be completed in the spring of 2008. Questions about the project can be addressed to Mike LaPoint at x5-6683.
Run/Walk for Health
Registration is open for the 5K Rochester Run/Walk for Health. The annual fundraiser will be held Saturday, April 14, at 10 a.m. in Genesee Valley Park. New this year is a 1K run/walk for children under 12.  To register, visit www.active.com or print out and mail in a registration form available online at www.urwell.org. All proceeds benefit UR Well, a student outreach program at the St. Joseph’s Neighborhood Center.
Clothesline Festival call for artists
The Memorial Art Gallery will begin accepting artist applications in April for the 51st Clothesline Festival. The juried event that takes place Saturday and Sunday, September 8 and 9 and showcases artists from western and central New York is the gallery’s biggest fundraiser.
