What's New: Gandhi Institute
Arun Gandhi
The M.K. Gandhi Institute for Nonviolence has moved to
the University. The institute, founded by Arun Gandhi and his late
wife, Sunanda, in 1991, advocates the peaceful methods of Indian
humanitarian Mohandas K. Gandhi and offers programs that teach the
theory and practice of nonviolence to young people and adults. Arun,
grandson of India’s legendary leader, worked with New York State
Assemblyman David Koon to bring the institute’s resources to
Rochester, including a research library that includes 100 volumes of
Mohandas Gandhi’s writings, along with videos, audiotapes, and
photographs. The institute also will offer several internships to students
and sponsor events and workshops.
