Retrofitting older housing for energy efficiency
![]()
Do you love historic houses but worry about these
structures’ high energy needs and carbon footprint? Then
consider participating in the Feb. 23 design charrette to create a
model for green urban home renovations.
Sponsored by AHEAD Energy, UR Engineers for a
Sustainable World, and SWBR Architects, the workshop will explore
possibilities for increased energy efficiency, conservation, and
on-site energy generation for this 1920s house located at 103-105
Prince Street. Informing the working sessions will be energy innovators,
architects, building contractors, sustainable design professionals, and
University and municipal decision makers.
The charrette runs from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the
Munnerlyn Atrium of Goergen Hall and includes a presentation on
sustainable practices on college campuses and a complimentary lunch. To
RSVP and for more information, contact Elaina Stover
atestover2@mail.rochester.edu or M.J. Ebenhack at
