The Your Health Education Series continues Thursday, July 10, with sessions on how to minimize the cost of prescription drugs. Learn how to estimate the cost of prescriptions, find effective generic alternatives, and save by using mail order. Complete the online health assessment

Want to improve your English speaking skills?
The Office of Special Programs is gearing up for this summer’s Intensive English Program for international students who want to improve their conversation and grammar skills. The course accepts students at all levels and exposes them to American culture through various activities and fieldtrips. The intensive four-week class takes place between July 28 and August 22, Monday to Friday, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. For more information, call 275-2344. Latino Professional Alliance to hold treasurer election
The Latino Professional Alliance (LPA) will be holding an election for the position of treasurer during its general meeting on August 6 at noon in the Medical Center, Natapow Conference Room 1-9545. This executive board position is open to all LPA members and University employees who are interested in joining LPA. Type I diabetes screening and study
The Pediatric Endocrinology Division is screening relatives of individuals with type 1 diabetes to find out if they are at risk for developing diabetes themselves. The screening involves a simple blood test. To be eligible you must be between the ages of 1 and 45 years with a sibling, child, or parent with type 1 diabetes, or be between the ages of 1 and 20 with a cousin, uncle, aunt, niece, nephew, grandparent, or half-sibling with type 1 diabetes. Screenings will be offered on Saturday, August 16, from 9 a.m. to noon at Strong Memorial Hospital, Ambulatory Center (second floor), Conference Room A and B. Also, volunteers are wanted for a research study testing whether oral insulin can prevent or delay the onset of diabetes in at-risk individuals. Those at risk will be closely monitored and may be eligible to participate in the Oral Insulin Prevention Trial. RSVP by Friday, August 1, to Barbara Johnson at 276-3513.
