Events to celebrate Hajim School dedication
Edmund A. Hajim During Meliora Weekend, the University will dedicate the Edmund A. Hajim School of Engineering and Applied Sciences, named in honor of Ed Hajim ’58, chair of the Board of Trustees. Hajim School Dean Rob Clark will welcome alumni, former faculty members, students, and parents for several events, including the inaugural Hajim School Symposium on Engineering on October 9. The free event will take place from 2 to 5 p.m. in Sloan Auditorium and will feature keynote addresses on “The Future of Engineering” by Charles Vest, president of the National Academy of Engineering and president emeritus of MIT, and on “The Bridge Between Engineering and Arts and Sciences” by Henry Petroski, the Arthur S. Vesic Professor of Civil Engineering and professor of history at Duke University. A reception will follow from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at Goergen Hall.
Henry Petroski On Saturday, October 10, a panel of alumni guests will discuss the relationship between energy and entrepreneurship and the importance of the relationship now and in the future. Duncan Moore, vice provost for entrepreneurship at the University, will lead the panel discussion “Energy and Entrepreneurship” from 1:30 to 3 p.m. in Goergen Hall.
