President gives State of the University speech

President Seligman called the state of the University “strong” in his annual report to the Faculty Senate on September 8.

At the start of his address, he discussed the recovery of Medical Center CEO Brad Berk, saying “unless unexpected developments occur, I am now confident that Brad Berk will return to his job as chief executive officer of the University of Rochester Medical Center at a time to be determined later.”

President Seligman also gave updates on Eastman Theatre’s renovation and ongoing projects at the Medical Center. He highlighted the University’s fundraising efforts, progress on the faculty diversity initiative, and work on each school’s strategic plan, saying each division has reported “considerable progress in implementing strategic plans to date and a determination to move forward and achieve core objectives.”
