In Brief Student bloggers chronicle the Warner experience Three new master’s degree students are blogging about their experiences at the Warner School. Each student provides a unique perspective on experiences in the classroom and the field, blogging about classes and the upcoming year. This year’s bloggers are Ashley Nicole Anderson, Kelly Erin Ludovici, and Michael Shea. The columns will be a standard feature and will contribute to Warner Perspectives at warner.rochester.edu/blog/, a multiauthor blog that stimulates discussions about important issues that affect students, the professions, and the research and policy in education and human development. Leadership and diversity center providing support for all College students Since its inception in 2002, the David T. Kearns Center for Leadership and Diversity in Science and Engineering has provided underrepresented students studying science, technology, engineering, and mathematics with academic and co-curricular support. Under its new name, the David T. Kearns Center for Leadership and Diversity in Arts, Sciences and Engineering, the center has expanded its scope to include students in all academic disciplines. With the addition of the humanities and social sciences component, the center will now assist an increased number of low-income, first-generation, and underrepresented minority students without conditions on their field of study. For further information about services offered by the Kearns Center, visit www. Recognize a dedicated colleague Nominations for both the Witmer Awards and Meliora Awards are being accepted through January 28, 2010. Both awards were established in 2008 to recognize exceptional service by University staff. The Meliora Award recognizes staff members whose work performance over the past year exemplifies the University’s motto, Meliora, or “ever better.” Details and nomination materials are available online at www.rochester.edu/working/hr. Direct deposit for expense reimbursements University employees submitting Employee Expense Reports (Finance Form F3) now have the option to be reimbursed via electronic direct deposit to their personal checking/savings account. The new service option includes enhanced tracking of the status of the deposit through the HRMS system’s “view paycheck” prompt. See the Finance Web site for details.
