Richard Aslin Elizabeth West Marvin Abraham Seidmann

Richard Aslin, the William R. Kenan Professor in the Department of Brain and Cognitive Sciences and director of the Rochester Center for Brain Imaging, has been elected a fellow of the Cognitive Science Society. Aslin was recognized for the “sustained excellence and . . . sustained impact” of his work.

Elizabeth West Marvin, professor of music theory at the Eastman School, has received the Gail Boyd de Stwolinski Prize for Lifetime Achievement in Music Theory Teaching and Scholarship.

Abraham Seidmann, Xerox Professor of Computers and Information Systems and Operations Management at the Simon School, has been named a distinguished fellow by the Institute of Operations Research and the Management Sciences (INFORMS) and the Information Systems Society of INFORMS.

Chin-to Fong David Higgs Jennifer Grotz

Chin-to Fong, chief of the Division of Pediatrics, is the 2012 AAMC Arnold P. Gold Foundation Humanism in Medicine Award recipient. Fong received the award at the organization’s annual meeting in San Francisco.

David Higgs, chair of the organ department at the Eastman School, has received the Paul Creston Award. Presented by St. Malachy’s—The Actors’ Chapel, the award recognizes artistic excellence by a significant figure in church music and the performing arts.

Jennifer Grotz, associate professor of English, is the recipient of this year’s Lillian Fairchild Award from the Department of English. The award is given to a Rochester-area resident who has “created extraordinary artistic work in any medium in the past year.”
