A spotlight on arts at Rochester
W. Spencer Klubben ’13 (left) and Shaquill McCullers ’14 act out a scene from The Rochester Plays. The International Theatre Program premiere of the play was among the featured events during the University’s first Day of the Arts, Feb. 15–16.
“People don’t always realize how much is going on here,” says Nigel Maister, artistic director of the International Theatre Program and one of the event’s organizers. “Our goal is to provide a 24-hour window that highlights the offerings that take place here on a regular basis and bring people together from different campuses as well as the Rochester community.” Offerings included dance, music, theater, art, and cultural events.
The celebration is a collaboration of the Eastman School, the Division of Medical Humanities and Bioethics at the Medical Center, Open Letter Books, the Memorial Art Gallery, and several College humanities departments.
