College Town countdown
A spring groundbreaking is expected for College Town, a mixed-use development project at the intersection of Mt. Hope and Elmwood avenues that is designed to link the University’s presence with the community to create an area for students, residents, and visitors.
Located on 14 acres of land owned by the University, College Town is expected to be complete by fall 2014.
The project received $4 million from New York’s Regional Economic Development Council program in December. Another key piece of financing was announced late last year, when Sen. Charles Schumer (D-NY) helped secure a $20 million loan from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development to the City of Rochester to support the project.
