The 13th Meliora Weekend— which combines alumni reunion, homecoming, and family weekends, and attracts around 7,000 attendees each year for four days of lectures, performances, seminars, and social gatherings—will be held Oct. 10–13.

Among the headliners is Robert Gates, former U. S. Secretary of Defense and director of the CIA. Gates, who served in various roles under eight U.S. presidents, will give the keynote address at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 12, at Kodak Hall at Eastman Theatre. A limited number of tickets are still available for the live event.

Comedian Demetri Martin, a former writer for Late Night with Conan O’Brien and a featured performer on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, will perform at 9 p.m. Friday, Oct. 11.

New this year, Rochester alumni, faculty, and students will share their ideas and experiences in the latest breakthrough research and once-in-a-lifetime opportunities during MEL Talks, a program modeled after the structure and flow of TED Talks. Attend one or both sessions to watch a variety of live speakers, video presentations, and performances. There will be two MEL Talks sessions on Saturday, Oct. 12 in the Louis Alexander Palestra. Each session will feature six speakers.

Visit the Meliora Weekend website, www.rochester.edu/ melioraweekend, for the full schedule of events and to register. Registration closes at noon Tuesday, Oct. 1.
