Collage serves as Sept. 11 memorial

Cathy Peters ’00N (Mas), nurse practitioner at the Medical Center, presented President Joel Seligman with “Homage to New York,” the final print from the memorial collage that Peters created following her work as a Sept. 11, 2001, American Red Cross volunteer. As a psychiatric nurse, Peters counseled workers from lower Manhattan, as well as family and friends of the deceased. “Homage to New York” has won media awards, and the original is part of the permanent collection of the New York Historical Society in Manhattan.
Ten prints were made from the original work—one is on display in the School of Nursing and the final one was given to Seligman on Aug. 6 in honor of the 30th Anniversary of Epsilon Xi, the School of Nursing’s chapter of Sigma Theta Tau, the international nursing honor society. Seligman is pictured with (from left) Lori Shiro, Tamara Eis, Cathy Peters, and Jane Tuttle.
