11:05-12:25 Concurrent Morning Sessions : The conference, which is being organized through the Office of Faculty Development and Diversity, will open with concurrent presentations that focus on faculty recruitment and retention, the University’s community outreach programs, and efforts to effect organizational change in regards to inclusiveness. Immediately following the presentations, members of the University’s Board of Trustees will lead small group discussions about those topics.

12:40-1:40 Working Lunch : The second portion of the conference is a working lunch where participants will discuss what they learned at the earlier presentations and share the best practices and challenges they face in their day-to-day activities. Click here to see notes.
1:40-2:40 Panel Discussion After lunch, participants at each table will have the opportunity to present their thoughts during a large group conversation moderated by Provost Ralph Kuncl. This session also will include comments and feedback from a panel of UR Board members and diversity officers from Rochester companies including Xerox, Kodak, and Bausch and Lomb.

Virtual Conference : On April 5th, community members were invited to watch a live webcast of the afternoon discussion and President Seligman’s presentation (between 1:40-3pm) They were also asked to voice opinions and suggestions via Twitter, where the hashtag ( #uofrdiversity) allowed for a virtual conversation. http://www.twitter.com

Community Voices : The
University has a goal of ensuring an inclusive and welcoming
environment for students, faculty, and staff. To that end, we’d like to
hear from you. Please fill out our survey.
We have also sent postcards to the 1,200 employees that do not have
university e-mail addresses so that their voices will also be heard.
Comments from this process will be discussed during the conference and
a summary report will be posted here after the conference.
