Multicultural Calendar

The Office of Human Resources – Organizational Development and Staff Diversity (ODSD) has developed a Multicultural Calendar listing of selected religious observances, cultural celebrations and University holidays. Acknowledging and respecting these events promotes greater knowledge of multiculturalism and diversity and is a foundation to inclusion.

Some of the religious holidays begin at sundown and end the next day (or subsequent days). Some staff, faculty and students have religious observances that require them to fast during the day or abstain from work.

Please take these special observances into consideration when scheduling meetings and events, particularly those days that have fasting or other observances highlighted.

You can download these selected religious observances, cultural celebrations and University holidays directly to your calendar.  Here are specific directions for the various platforms:              

Outlook Exchange
  1. Save this file to your local disk drive.
  2. In Microsoft Outlook Client 2007:  File – Import and Export… - select Import option “Import an iCalendar (.ics)or vCalendar file (.vcs)” – next – point to the file saved in step 1 –Ok – select Import.
  3. If Microsoft Outlook Client 2010: File – Open – Import -  select Import option “Import an iCalendar (.ics)or vCalendar file (.vcs)” – next – point to the file saved in step 1 –Ok – select Import.

      Note: If you perform the above actions more than once you will have duplicate events
      added to your Calendar.

Cloud Office 365
  1. Save this file to your local disk drive.
  2. In Microsoft Outlook Office 365:  File – Open – Import – select Import Option “Import an iCalendar (.ics)or vCalendar file (.vcs)” – next – point to the file saved in step 1 –Ok – select Import.
Zimbra
  1. Save this file to your local disk drive.
  2. Calendar files saved in ICS (iCal) format can be imported directly into Zimbra. From within the Zimbra Web Client, select PREFERENCES, and then the CALENDAR tab.
  3. Under the IMPORT heading, browse to your local ICS file and then select the IMPORT .ICS FILE button.
  4. In the resulting popup window, either select an existing calendar or create a new one to import the ICS events into.
