William Darity, Duke University, will give the talk "Achieving Equality in "Post-Racial" America." In the existing political climate, national policies targeted on behalf of black Americans have little or no purchase. The key act of imagination is the design of national policies that are universal in scope that still will contribute to colsure of persistent racial disparities in the United States.
The lecture will advance two major proposals that will push America dramatically forward toward increased equality:1. "baby bonds" and 2. a federal job guarantee for all citizens.
The talk is free and open to the public Sponsored by the Frederick Douglass Institute for African and African-American Studies; and the Humanities Project.
