Neilly Series Lecture: Deaf Ethnicity

Harlan Lane on "Deaf Ethnicity: For and Against." Lane, Distinguished University professor of psychology at Northeastern University in Boston, and the founder of the Center for Research in Hearing, Speech, and Language. Lane's research is focused on speech, Deaf culture and sign language, and he has become an often controversial spokesman for the Deaf community and critic of cochlear implants. He has written extensively on the social construction of disability; his latest book is The People of the Eye: Deaf Ethnicity and Ancestry.
