Faculty Senate Nomination Form

University Committee on Tenure and Privileges Nomination Form

The Faculty Senate Elections Committee is inviting nominations for candidates for the University of Rochester Faculty Senate, and for the University Committee on Tenure and Privilege (UCTP). Elections are scheduled to take place this spring. At stake are 15 (out of 45) seats in the Faculty Senate, one seat on the UCTP in the School of Medicine and Dentistry, one seat in the Eastman School of Music, and one seat in the School of Nursing.

Nominations are due by 4PM, Tuesday March 22, 2016.  Please use separate forms or emails if you want to make multiple nominations.

Faculty Senate Election:
The electorate for the Faculty Senate election consists of all full-time members of the faculty (Assistant Professors, Associate Professors and Professors), and of part-time members of the faculty with the rank of Professor, Associate Professor or the equivalent.

Senators who have served two consecutive three-year terms are ineligible for election in the year in which they complete their second term. Faculty Senate elections are “at large” elections:  any member of the faculty can nominate any faculty member and vote for any candidate, regardless of their respective schools.

Nominations for the Faculty Senate can be done in the following two ways:

(1) Print the attached form(s) and send it with the name of the nominee and signatures of three members of the Faculty Senate electorate via intra-mural mail to Libby Barth, Faculty Senate Office, RC Box 270014. Nomination forms can also be downloaded from the Faculty Senate website www.rochester.edu/faculty/senate/elections.html.

OR

(2) Send an email with the name of the candidate and the names of three members of the Faculty Senate electorate (the nominators) to Libby Barth (FacultySenate@ur.rochester.edu). IMPORTANT: Please copy all three nominators on the email to Libby.

University Committee on Tenure and Privilege (UCTP) Election:
Eligible for election to the UCTP are full-time members of the faculty with unlimited tenure. The UCTP has nine members: two from Arts, Sciences and Engineering, two from the School of Medicine and Dentistry, and one each from the Eastman School of Music, the School of Nursing, the Simon Business School and the Warner School of Education. The ninth member is appointed by the Faculty Senate Executive Committee. Members ordinarily serve three-year terms, starting on July 1. There are no term limits.  This year the schools with elections are the School of Medicine and Dentistry, the Eastman School of Music, and the School of Nursing. UCTP elections are “district based”: you can only nominate candidates from your own school for your own school’s available seat, and you can only vote in the election for your school’s seat on the UCTP.

Nominations for the UCTP can be done in the following two ways:

(1) Print the attached form and send it with the name of the nominee and signatures of three members of the Faculty Senate electorate. The signatures must be from members of the Faculty Senate electorate with primary appointment in the same school as the nominee. Send the form via intra-mural mail to Libby Barth, Faculty Senate Office, RC Box 270014.

The nominators must be members of the Faculty Senate electorate with their primary appointment in the same school as the nominee.
