Messages of Support

A message from the Vice Provost for Global Engagement

The Office for Global Engagement wishes to extend its support to all students and scholars who are affected by this conflict in Ukraine. We are aware of the compounding effect of worrying about your families and loved ones at home while coping with the pressures of academic life here in Rochester. Given the challenges of the current crisis, we would like to remind our faculty, students, and scholars of the resources that are available to them.

If you would like to help the University of Rochester’s students and scholars from Ukraine and Russia, please consider supporting the University’s Global Emergency Response Fund which allows us to provide financial support to students facing critical situations in their home countries.

Please take care and remember there are a number of resources to assist you in these challenging times. This page will be updated regularly as more information is available.

From President Mangelsdorf: In solidarity with Ukraine

“All of us are concerned and deeply saddened by the unprovoked Russian invasion of Ukraine and mourn the escalating losses of life and livelihood as this conflict continues,” President Sarah Mangelsdorf wrote in a message Friday to the University community. “With students, faculty, and staff from both Ukraine and Russia among our University community, we know too well the lasting damage this conflict is causing. And as a university of global consequence, we stand with leaders around the world in advocating for justice and peace.” Read the full message.
