"I AM ..." Poem Contest

For students in the English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) program

Students in the ESOL Program will have the opportunity to submit their own composition as part of this International Education Week poem contest. Participants will write a short poem to describe themselves and different aspects of their identity, by using the phrase "I Am" to start each line. Students are encouraged to think introspectively about who they are and draw connections to their own life experiences and others. Each ESOL class will nominate selections to the International Education Week planning committee, which will choose the contest winner. Please join us at the IEW Opening Celebration on Monday, November 12th, at 4:00 pm, for the announcement!

Under the direction of the College Writing Program, undergraduate students admitted into the ESOL Program are enrolled in classes designed to help them use English more effectively and to provide support to enhance academic and social interactions. Approximately 50 students are participating in the ESOL Program for 2012-2013.
